Zarlor, which means “treasure” in Réunion Creole, is a choreographic piece for six performers inspired by maloya, the traditional music and dance of Réunion Island. Born during the era of slavery, maloya carried the songs, the pain, and the hopes of those whom history has long silenced. Through a contemporary artistic vision, the performers explore what is passed down from one generation to the next, what is forgotten, and what endures. Through dance, music, and lyrics, Zarlor examines collective memory and the legacies that continue to shape our identities.
